$400.00

Contempo

  • 2025

  • High-grade polyresin, painted and hand-polished

  • H: 30cm (12 in)

Ancient Original

  • Roman, 1st century B.C. - 1st century A.D.

  • Marble

  • H: 77 cm (30 in)

Description

The obsidian-toned polyresin torso offers a sleek, modern look. It can match sleek minimalist design while elevating any space in which it lives, while also harmonizing with textured surfaces and earthy tones,

In this particular contempo, the natural aging of the ancient Roman marble torso is represented, including textured rivets around the left thigh and small depressions in the back. The stand connected to both thighs was digitally sculpted into the virtual model and later brought to reality through our multi-step creation process, ensuring that the torso remains upright for effortless placement. There are only 11 limited editions available of this piece.

The original, ancient marble torso is Roman, ca. 1st century B.C. - 1st century A.D. This statue was most likely commissioned by Roman patrons to decorate their houses and villas; the statue of Apollo might be appropriate for the installation in a house library or a family shrine.

Apollo, the Greek god of prophecy and oracles, music, archery, healing, disease, and protection of the young, was often depicted as young, athletic, and beardless. The statue was created in the Classicist style that emphasizes simplicity, aesthetic proportions, and harmony.

Creation

The creation of the contempo starts with research into authentic masterpieces, allowing Antico Contempo to determine how antiques can be thoughtfully reimagined through a contemporary lens. Every piece is examined to identify its unique qualities and what processes are required for adaptation.

High-resolution 3D scans are captured using structured light and infrared sensing, with real-time refinements made to preserve surface nuances and structural integrity. The raw data is reworked to create watertight, workshop-ready meshes.

Through a meticulous back-and-forth process of digital sculpting, 3D printing, and casting and molding, Antico Contempo creates a physical art piece that combines aesthetics of both the ancient and contemporary world.
