Details

  • Polychrome Stone Tesserae

  • 2024

  • 27 x 27 in (69 x 69 cm)

Description

Following the creation of "Metropolis," Aboutaam designed this face and named it "Mind of Machines," paying homage to the first piece in the series while also evolving the style. The webbed, circuit-like ornaments and sharp straight edges mark a significant shift from the previous mosaic, with pyramids, lines, squares, triangles, and rhombuses forming the side profile of this machine man. The artwork depicts a human figure further removed from humanity, deeply embedded in AI and machinery, symbolizing the looming sense of technological overreach.

Crafted entirely from natural stones and set within a black wooden frame, this mosaic seamlessly merges age-old techniques with a distinctly futuristic vision. The meticulous arrangement of geometric shapes evokes a mechanical precision, while the interplay of natural texture and modern design highlights the tension between tradition and innovation. The result is a compelling piece that both honors the past and confronts the complexities of the technological future.
