Mosaic of Theater Mask on Black

$4,500.00

Inspired by famous frescoes of theater masks from Pompeii at the House of the Faun and House of the Tragic Poet, this highly-detailed micro-mosaic brilliantly captures the actor’s look of tragedy. The mask looks up to the left with the mouth open in despair, surrounded by a scene of green-hued sprouting veins and a flower.

The worldwide known comedy and tragedy masks of theater date back to Greek and Roman Mythology. They were used to represent the emotions that actors attempted to emulate and express in live theater, now famously used to symbolize modern theater.
