Aquila is the word for eagle in Latin. Combined with its feminine touch, this title perfectly represents the beauty in this art. The large mosaic depicts a female huntress and her eagle. She looks at intensely ahead as the eagle’s eye appears as her own. The micro tesserae highlight the bird’s individual feathers; each composed of numerous tesserae arranged with delicate curvature and layering.
This piece is the third of Alexander Aboutaam’s ‘Metamorphoses’ collection, which depicts gods, humans, and animals as on in the same, inspired by ancient practices of fusing these portrayals as one.
The artist Mahi was a major influence on the composition of this design. Her drawings of birds as well as feminine figures with sensuality inspired Aboutaam to fulfill this design in mosaic form. Please request further information.
